Peter Brayton 1825 1908 Pioneer of Tymochtee dies at Springville
Peter Brayton died at his Springville home on August 10 1908 after a prolonged illness. He was born February 8 1825 near Tymochtee and lived over seventy six years on his Springville farm. He led a devout Methodist life, hosted neighbors and preachers, and left a large family including son Asa Brayton and daughters Mrs Louis Galbroner Josephine Falk and Terronia Bright. Burial was in Brayton Cemetery after a large funeral held August 11 with local relatives as pallbearers.

The Brown family reunion was held at Findlay home of W Parker with dinner then Riverside park. W D Hurd was elected president L G Ranger vice president and Miss Mary Ranger secretary. Next year’s reunion will be at F D Hurd’s home in this city.

National Encampment Held at Toledo This Week

John K. Chapman of Hornellsville New York visited Ohio to attend the Cheseborough reunion with his brother in law S C Williams. A Erie railroad locomotive engineer, he served in the Union Army, resumed his post after the war, and retired aged after fifty two years of service with a spotless safety record.

Feast of the Assumption Observed at Our Lady of Consolation
Assumption day observances at Our Lady of Consolation drew large crowds with Masses and a candle procession. A special train from Toledo brought about six hundred attendees, with many arriving the night before. Notable attendees included Mrs. Turner of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Fry of West Virginia, and Miss Miller of Cleveland seeking healing prayers.

The will of Henry Nigh was probated last Thursday naming the widow as executrix and granting her control of the real estate to dispose of as she sees fit. Chattels are to be sold at public sale and a 3500 bequest goes to Mrs Sarah Bitler, the testator’s mother, with witnesses J O Bitler and Rawson K Carlin.

Mrs Kenton found a paper signed by the late CL W D Zuch as mayor of Carey. It announced an April 1 1861 election for the divorce of a mayor and councilmen. Two ex mayors of Carey died on the same day with funerals held that afternoon.
Bailey Assigned New Territory for Woolson Spice Company
S Harvey Bailey, tied to D N Hill as salesman for Woolson Spice, is reassigned to a central Illinois and western Indiana district. Headquarters remain in Charleston Illinois. Bailey departed Saturday and began work in his new territory Monday.
