Carey Legion Little League defeated South Tuesday night by 9 to 1 to claim the county title. Pitchers Tom Myers and Tom Tucker combined for the season second no hitter with 14 strikeouts. Myers homered and tripled, teammates provided multiple hits as Carey improved to 10 wins 2 losses. next play Mt Blanchard Eden winner at 2 p.m. in Wharton.

Carey's newly organized Junior Baseball League coached by Paul DeAmicis and managed by Bob Red Snook raises funds with a Sunday $50 award finale. Grant Johnson Norman Cole and Russell Walters of San Bernardino appointed to visit relatives in Findlay. Johnson is son of Mrs Free Scoarse. Carey village officials debunk rumors that the National Syrian Picnic Association planned to fund sanitary facilities at Waterworks Park for trailers or tents. Will Train With Ordnance Unit In Summer Camp

About 70 Tiffin area men of the 396th Ordnance Unit Army Reserves leave this week for Camp Pickett Virginia for two weeks of annual active duty summer camp. The advance party departed Wednesday to set up, with a 7-vehicle convoy commanded by Lt Joseph A Rossane and 15 drivers slated to leave Friday at 4 am. The main unit under Capt Robert Kelley sails by train Saturday and returns Aug 31 to Sept 1. Gene Hoopf and Edwin Pahl are two of the drivers and had completed two years of active U S Army service before re activation during the Berlin emergency last December.
