Heavy vote marks primary as Democrats lead in governor race
With 20 precincts missing in the state, Martin L. Davey led Lieut. Gov. Sawyer for the Democratic governor nomination by over 19,000 votes. Clarence J. Brown likely won the Republican nomination. Vic Donahey was named the Democratic U S senator nominee and Simeon D. Fess the Republican nominee by a large margin. In the Eighth district, Fletcher led with 14,813 votes, Key 6,305, Wharton 3,037 on the Democratic ticket. Republicans favored Jones 8,000, Masters 4,600, Smith 4,500. A woman, Miss Gertrude Jones, won the Eighth district Republican nomination for national congress.

Injured Blair Wentling Fell From Quarry Rafters
Blair Wentling son of Mr and Mrs Ervin Wentling of south of Carey was injured Monday forenoon when a rafter came loose and he fell 16 feet from a building at the Kuenzli quarry east of Upper Sandusky where he was employed He was X rayed at Dr Bowmans Upper Sandusky office and found to have two broken ribs an incomplete fracture of a dorsal vertebra and left wrist injuries He was brought home Monday afternoon and Tuesday internal injuries were feared He was taken to the Home and Hospital at Findlay in an ambulance He is currently doing well and expects to return home soon.

Legion Convention Set for Sandusky This August
The American Legion state convention will be held in Sandusky on August 18 19 and 20. Delegates Free Scoarse and Lawrence Bland from Earl Green post and alternates Mervin Shafer and Earl Williams were named. This marks the first time the local post sends delegates to the convention with many ex servicemen expected to attend and about 90 percent planning to be there.
