Willard men buy local theatres and plan joint operation

Willard residents Willard H. L. Tracy and Wm Burke visited Tuesday. Tracy bought a moving picture theatre in Willard and secured a lease on the Mystic theatre. He also purchased the Temple and will run the Temple seven nights weekly and the Mystic four. Willard, a town of about 4000, looks to a bright show business future.

Carey and Findlay Tie Game Postponed By Wet Diamond

Last Sunday the game between Carey and Findlay American Legion teams was canceled due to wet field conditions. The makeup game is scheduled to be played Sunday August 26 at Carey.

Family Reunions Mark Several Gatherings in Ohio Parks

About 75 of the Russel family met at Carey park on Sunday for a reunion while 40 of the Walborn family held theirs at Water Works Park. Frank L. Walborn of Dayton was elected president and Ella Snyder of Sycamore secretary with plans for a 1924 reunion at the same site. The Searfoss family held its 24th annual reunion at Riverside park with 150 members. A J Searfoss of Mt. Cory was president, Clarence Baughman of Findlay secretary, John Searfoss of Arlington treasurer, and a committee chosen for the next gathering on the second Saturday in August 1924. The Fox and Mitten families held their ninth and second annual reunions at Carey park on August 12, about 100 in attendance, with Andrew Fox president and Mrs F J Davis secretary treasurer, Mark Mitten vice president, and Bertha Mitten secretary. The next Fox-Mitton reunion is set for August 10, 1924 at Carey park.

Fifty two Wenner relatives gathered at H L Wenner’s North street home Sunday. Tong Family 17th Reunion Held at Riverside Park

Nearly 100 Tong family members gathered for the 17th reunion at Riverside Park last Saturday. Officers chosen for the year include President Hosea Tong and Secretary Mrs Ada Tong, with Sherman Tong named to a culinary committee. Reverend R P Werner, 86, attended and spoke passionately, having served in Hancock county for forty years. Henrietta Bailey and Effiegre sang The Old Rugged Cross, drawing an Amen from the preacher.

Arnold Family Fourth Reunion Held At Findlay Home

The fourth annual Arnold family reunion gathered about 50 people Sunday at EFS Arnold’s Findlay residence on Flin Street. After a cafeteria style dinner, the business session elected officers: Mrs John Lyon president, Mrs Bert Gunderman secretary, and Harry Bishop treasurer. Attendees included Harry and Warren Bishop, Louisa Bishop, and multiple Bishop and Reiss families from Tiffin and nearby towns.

Assumption Day Pilgrimage Draws Large Crowds to Shrine

The Our Lady Consolation shrine drew an estimated 8000 pilgrims for the Assumption Day observance. Large crowds arrived by train and auto, filling Clay street to Findlay and West streets, with 3000 estimated in the candle procession and a sizable turnout on the return march via Findlay, Vance, and Clay.

Mrs Hannah Joy Found Dead In Chicago Home

Mrs Hannah Knickerbocker Joy widow of the late David Joy of Findlay died Saturday night at the home of her daughter Mrs Howard Spohn in Chicago. Her remains were brought to Findlay Tuesday evening and placed with Mr and Mrs R J Berry. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Episcopal church.

Deficient Power Delays Linotype Production

The electric motor linked to the linotype slowed again hindering copy setup this week. Electricians blame the machine and an expert will inspect it to determine if the deficiency lies in the current or the equipment. The Marion visit and other details could not be reported due to the outage.
