Beatrice Bryan and Ersel Shawver Marry in Methodist Parsonage

Miss Beatrice Imogene Bryan of Toledo wed Ersel D. Shawver of Lorain Saturday at the local Methodist parsonage. Rev. W. W. Weiser officiated with Miss Georgia Teopas and David Weiser as attendants. A luncheon followed before the couple, planned to reside in Lorain this autumn, headed to their new home.

John De Amicis won a candid camera at Harry's Drug Store in a window display contest. He guessed 1897 of 1900 film spools, coming closest to the actual count.

Grass Fire on West Street Reported by Carey Fire Dept

The Carey fire department was called Wednesday forenoon to West street where grass between the Frank Long residence and the Carey Handle factory caught fire. No injuries or property damage reported. Cleanup followed the blaze and authorities investigated the scene.

The Carey preparatory school system releases the 1940 to 1941 calendar detailing nine months of instruction, monthly terms, and 6 week periods. It includes an Easter break, semester exams on January 16 17 and May 26 27, and commencement on May 29.

Ohio enters peak two months of infantile paralysis danger. The public health committee calls for hygiene measures including clean hands and foods, well screened houses, no sharing lollipops, and avoiding crowds. Hudson's Insurance of Upper Sandusky defeated Marion last Friday at Harrison Smith Park to claim the district softball title under the new lighting. Married Monday in Carey as Lola Leeder weds Lawrence Cole

On Monday afternoon at 330 o'clock the marriage of Mrs Lola Leeder of Newhard street Carey and Lawrence Cole near Mt Blanchard occurred. Rev Temple performed the ceremony at Trinity Evangelical parsonage in Upper Sandusky. They will reside in Carey for now, later on Mr Cole's farm with Ralph Clark and his wife.

Wyandot County Fair Dates Set for September

Harry Hudson of Upper Sandusky is the new secretary for the Wyandot county fair association. The Wyandot County Fair runs September 10 to 13 with a race program on Wednesday through Friday. The Boone County Jambores perform Wednesday evening, Major Bowes unit Friday, and Thursday features include a riding horse contest and a quartet contest. Admission remains 25 cents for grounds and grandstand.

Final National Convention Merges Woman's Home Missionary Society

Attendees including Mrs. J J McCabe and others reported the final national convention of the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Episcopalian church held in August. The society will merge with other Methodist groups and transferred over 180 institutions valued over 2 million dollars to the new society.
