Pilgrimage Opens with Large Attendance at Shrine Novena
About 600 pilgrims attended opening services at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for the Novena. An estimated 800 joined the evening candle processions as the week featured daily high masses and multiple language sermons. Miss Rachel Ann Burson aged 79 dies at home with her brother and sister in law Mr. and Mrs. E M Burson at 3 00 a m Sunday from injuries after a July 24 fall. Born November 22 1845 on a farm southwest of Carey she lived there until moving to town 12 years ago. She taught school in youth and later helped her family. She joined Star Bethel church in youth and Beech Grove United Brethren 35 years ago. She was a W C T U member and funeral was held Tuesday at the United Brethren church with Rev J W Shock officiating. Interment at Spring Grove cemetery.
