Specialist Coppler arrived in Europe in March 1957 from Fort Eustis Virginia to join the Army training in Germany. He entered the Army in August 1956 and completed basic training at Fort Chaffee Arkansas. He is the son of Mrs. Tillie Coppler of 305 Glen Avenue Carey.
Seven Wyandot county men registered with the selective service board plus one transfer traveled to Ft Hayes Columbus on July 22 for preinduction physicals. Lewis Moler appeared in Wyandot County Municipal Court on a non support charge after arrest by the county sheriff's department. The case was continued to 9 a.m. August 22 for further proceedings.
Chief of Police and Mrs Henry Pieracini escaped injury in a minor auto crash south of Upper Sandusky on Route 23. Morgan E Inbody of Marion drove a 1953 Chrysler and caused a light bumper scrape with the Pieracini 1956 Chrysler. Damages to the Pieracini car were minor. Inbody escaped damage.
Heirs of the late John S Fox offer two adjoining Carey properties for sale at public auction on Saturday September 9 1958 at 1 PM. Tract 1 a single residence at 314 East North Street and Tract 2 a duplex at 310 East North Street, with bidding to sell separately or together. Taxes for 1958 second half due, down payment 10 percent, balance in 10 days.
Jane Schwemley of New Washington plus five companions depart July 10 from New York aboard the S S Massdam to begin an eight week privately conducted European tour. Professors Mr and Mrs Kooper co lead with lectures on music and plan concerts across France Switzerland Germany Austria Italy and the United Kingdom including Paris Brussels London Stratford upon Avon and Edinburgh. The journey concludes with a flight back to New York.
A clerk report shows 52 criminal cases filed in July in Upper Sandusky Municipal Court. Of these 25 came from the state highway patrol, 15 from the village or town police, 9 from the Upper Sandusky department, 1 from Wyandot county sanitarian, and 2 from Wyandot county game protector. Total collections were 1116.46 with 200 posted as bonds for August appearances. Distributed 916.46 included 175.50 to Ohio for patrol cases, 69 to Wyandot county, 401.02 to Upper Sandusky, 199.50 to Wyandot County Law Library Association, 31.44 to the county sheriff, and 40 to the state natural resources department.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. White Jr and son Daniel Scott of Tiffin spent the weekend of July 26 in Gallipolis with Mrs. Frank Fulton. Daniel Scott is the 5th generation in the White family and a great great granddaughter of Mrs. Fulton. The infant has five great grandparents and four grandparents named in the report.
Findlay College in Ohio moves to a four year business administration program as Dr. O J Wilson joins as vice president to assist President H Clifford Fox. A new women's dormitory is planned for fall 1959 while a men’s dormitory was added earlier. Local businessmen including W B Brewer Frank S Slick George K Barrett George Trout and R L Heminger mobilize alumni and church support to fund the initiative.
Army Reserve Specialist Third Class George H. Schwemley of Toledo finished two weeks of annual active duty training July 19 at Fort Benjamin Harrison Indiana. He serves in the 325th finance disbursing section in Toledo and is a psychometrist with the University of Toledo. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Charles J Schwemley of W Findlay Street.
The Findlay College project continues after a year of effort under the college president invitation. While not all problems are solved, observers in Findlay acknowledge clear signs of progress and a developing future for the institution.
The Rev. and Mrs. J. Frank Ferguson spend the week as instructors at Camp Palmer near Fayette for a Methodist camp. Young attendees include Roger from First Methodist Church.
