Bishop Schrembs will lead a Diocesan Eucharistic Conference at Carey on Wednesday August 31 with Pontifical Mass at nine and Benediction in the afternoon. The event mirrors Lourdes rites and will feature a procession of priests, a blessing for the sick, and the Bishop’s final public act in the Toledo Diocese.
Last Sunday evening the second twilight union service at the End school lawn drew more attendees than the first. Rev. W. F. Martin led the gathering with Rev. J. C. Rinehart reading scripture and Rev. I. H. Amore delivering a sermon on Faith. Music featured Wm. Gobrecht and a Lucy Laughlin Martha Hart duet plus W. J. Baker solo. L. E. Straw invites next Sunday’s service on his West Main street lawn near the Chautauqua grounds at 6:00 PM.
The Carey Times handed Secretary Matteson up to date premium lists for the county fair. Revisions this year aim to make the fair the best ever with enlarged grounds and a larger race track.
Mrs A A Wise of Waco Texas visiting relatives in Upper Sandusky was called to Oklahoma City Monday by her husband’s illness. He was en route from Ohio when he fell suddenly ill Saturday and was taken to a hospital with fears of spinal meningitis.
A serpentine dance is set for Friday night at the park on August 5. Participants will receive paper caps of various styles and colors, and all are invited to attend.

Clerk Jofin Stoody records a vital statistics report listing deaths by date in July. Entries include Alice Hickle on July 6, John Carey Dow on July 23, Michael Yost on July 10, Chas Hunter on July 16, Floyd Huston on July 20, Herschel Updegraft on July 28, and Arnold E Hayman on July 28.
A Chamber of Commerce meeting decided to hold a second annual Home Coming and Harvest Festival in September. Tents will replace streets for exhibits at Hitching Grounds with a large main tent, stock and agriculture displays, and a central stage for entertainments. Committees led by Merle Blue, Cyril Kramer, Chas Myers, and others set plans for premiums, side shows, decorations, livestock judging, tent arrangements, and ticket sales.
