P Haines, son of Addison Haines of South Park, died in Columbus on Monday morning. W W Bender of Upper Sandusky traveled to Columbus Monday noon and accompanied the body to the Bender Funeral Parlors for burial preparations.
A local notice announces a sale offering 50 summer hats priced at one dollar. The message is signed by Helen Courtad and includes an invitation to visit a new location near the Peoples Bank.
A public appeal urges users to refrain from spitting tobacco juice on restroom floors. The notice stresses the habit is filthy and particularly inappropriate in facilities used by women and children.
I thank neighbors and friends for kindness during illness and for flowers fruits and other gifts.
A Monday Kiwanis luncheon featured Rev W F Martin discussing The Bones of a Man, stressing the wish humor crazy and backbone. Visitors from Upper Sandusky attended the picnic set for next Tuesday at the new park. Invitations issued for the August 7 wedding of Miss Katharine McCabe of Delaware to Mr Harry Grinton of Kingston New York.
In common pleas court Judge Charles F Close presided Tuesday a sale of Liberty Airless Tire property to R A Moore for 43000 is confirmed as in accordance with law and prior decrees. Moore’s assignment of rights in the Studebaker-Wulff Rubber Co receiver is handled by directing deed transfers to the company conveying all right title and interest of Liberty Tire in the sold property.
Ira McKinnon works evenings on a new cemetery cross at St Joseph's in Salem. The crucifix has a coat of red lead for oxidation and will receive a gray finishing coat after it seasons.

The Kinsey Kemedy Co. posted earnings of about $230 from the week’s engagement. A Cedar Point excursion on July 12 brought in roughly $50.
The August pilgrimage to the shrine runs August 6 to 15 with candle processions and multiple masses daily. Detroit plans a pilgrimage on August 19 with special train fares, certificates, and group travel options from Union Station and Cleveland. Shrine organizers urge hospitality and advance ticketing for comfort and efficiency.
Elza Jacobs reports E M Pritchard will arrive in Carey on August 4 to deliver season tickets and lead the campaign for the five day 1923 Chautauqua. He brings outdoor ads and will announce dates for events. The program runs August 30 to September 3 featuring Cappy Ricks and two band concerts.
Miss Hazel Hunter daughter of Mrs Naomi Hunter of Upper Sandusky and Monroe J. Flicker Jr of Toledo were married Thursday at the Methodist parsonage Upper Sandusky with Rev J R Colley officiating. The couple will reside in Toledo.
M C Cosgray of Sandusky City sales manager at Matthews Engineering Co appointed receiver of the firm, a subsidiary of Dollings Co. Several Carey residents hold Matthews stock. Dollings’ affairs are in bad shape and may drag its many subsidiaries into the mess.
The guarantors of the 1923 Chautauqua are requested to meet at the Rest Room Friday evening at 7 30 to organize and plan for the Redpath Chautauqua. All guarantors and those interested are urged to attend and participate.
Albert H Kemerley prominent Carey businessman dies at home in Carey West Findlay and Vance streets after a period of ill health He was born March 15 1860 on a Crawford township farm and held positions at Fenstermaker Taylor Mfg Co D H Straw Son’s dry goods and the Walter A Wood Co He also served as cashier of D H Straw bank first president of Citizens Savings Bank of Upper Sandusky and helped organize Carey Electric Telephone Co Funeral held Saturday at Christ Lutheran with Scottish Rite Masonry in attendance Burial at Spring Grove cemetery.
Each church of the Carey Evangelical charge plans a home coming at the park Sunday. Rev J W Schweisberger of Dalton preaches at 1 30 p m and again at 8 00 p m for a platform meeting. A picnic dinner will be served at noon. Rev Schweisberger preaches again at 7 30 p m at the Carey church.
Grace Chapel hosts a public ice cream festival Tuesday evening. Rev J W Shock Mrs J W Shock and daughter Clarice of Columbus Grove visit relatives Mr and Mrs Harry Hull east of town.
