Ensemble at Kiwanis Banquet and School News Highlights

The Kiwanis Community club banquet featured an ensemble directed by Mr. Klein with Marjorie Kromer Rita Brown Vincent Brown Harold XKrout Carolyn Sopher Norman Huffman and Miss Hull. The girls glee club earned a very good rating at Bluffton music contest entering class C. New band members were June Criger Be Lee Haines and Corinne Wlenzinger. Senior scholarship results place Christine Hoff 277 Rosemary Kramer 260 Pauline Newcomer 244 among county top ranks with others listed.

Carey Farmers Community Club Elects Officers

The Carey farmers club met at Moose hall after the Kiwanis banquet. Ira T. Matteson spoke on Wyandot county fair plans for May to September, with activities from school day to 4-H day and the county fair. Wyandot County Soil Conservation Program Meeting

Wyandot community committees met in Upper Sandusky to outline the new soil conservation program. Each farmer may become eligible for a federal grant after a survey determines farm crop acreages and a base figure, with worksheets filed in the county office and a closing date likely in August. Farmers are urged to prepare 1935 crop and acreage lists for quick completion.

Rebekahs Mark 75th Anniversary with Lodge Program

A regular Rebekah lodge meeting was held Tuesday evening followed by a social and pot luck. The 75th anniversary of the Odd Fellows lodge founding was observed with a short program featuring piano solo by Anna Elizabeth Johnson, a history read by Mrs Gertrude Tate, and a piano duet by Mary Ellen and Ruth Esther Baker.

Marriage of Miss Lucille Black and Ray Heifer

The marriage of Miss Lucille Black daughter of Mr and Mrs Irvin Black Carey and Ray Heifer son of Mr and Mrs Jesse Heifer Findlay was announced. The ceremony took place April 6 in Greenup with Rev Munsey officiating. A bridal shower for the bride was held last Thursday at her parents home on Frederick Street with about 50 guests and many gifts for Mrs Helfer.

Annual Spring Pilgrimage Opens at Shrine of Consolation

The Spring Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey runs May 9 to May 17 with daily Masses and devotionals. Processions are planned May 10 14 and 17, with pilgrims from multiple towns and a special Big Four rail service from Sandusky Clyde and Tiffin.

An error in a Better Homes and Gardens recipe in The Carey Times omitted two eggs. The corrected method combines flour sugar salt and eggs then adds shortening walnuts raisins vanilla and dissolved soda water before baking cookies at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.

County Scout Board Plans County Camp As June Event

All four county troops and the District Scout Board met at Christ Lutheran parish house. A committee led by L G Altwater Judge Russell H Kear and H L Wenner was formed to plan the June 22 and 23 county-wide camp at which tents will go up meals cooked and a campcraft program will proceed. A court of honor will award badges by firelight.

Ora J Williamson funeral services held in Hebron

Mrs Shuman's brother in law Ora J Williamson died Sunday at his Hebron home after a yearlong stomach illness. Born December 27 1884 he was son of William J Williamson and survived by widow Lucy J Williamson two daughters Helen and Mrs George Hoover both at home two sisters Mrs Edward Thompson and Ella E Harden. Williamson operated a Hebron filling station since January 1932 and earlier worked for B&O signal maintenance. He belonged to First U B Church Newark Ohio Protective Association Zanesville Knights of Pythias Plymouth Uniform Bank Willard. Burial at Kirkersville Cemetery. funeral held Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev A B Cox officiating. Shuman to remain in Hebron until Sunday.

Almost 100 per cent attendance marked the Kiwanis Community club banquet at the Catholic hall 6230 Monday evening. Franciscan Sisters prepared and served the dinner. W L Arnholt welcomed members, Marl Karr thanked the Kiwanis host, Rev Marion E Tinsler introduced Dr I W Baumann who spoke on Preparing for Marriage at Bruffton College Bluffton with Miss Marie Jacobs giving a student view. A high school quartet directed by Leonard Klein provided music.

Stoll Couple Celebrates 60 Years Married in Carey

Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Stoll observed their 60th wedding anniversary at home on N. Vance street. Their son Arthur Stoll gave cake and flowers, and later daughter Louies Beis brought more flowers. They married April 26, 1876 in Salem township and lived in Carey most of their married life. Mrs. Stoll, born Elizabeth Ann Savidge, is 79. her husband is 86.

Disastrous Carey Fire Described From 68 Years Ago

A fire on Tuesday April 28 sixty eight years ago destroyed a half block of business buildings in Carey. The blaze began in the room now occupied by Emerine's Market and wiped out structures from the water department office to the former Carey Mill and Elevator Co site.

Mr and Mrs Fo Pruett of Tujunga California mourn the death of their 19 year old son Lee. He drowned on April 4 and the body was found April 19. He was buried on April 21.
