Mrs Wilford Shuman received a call from her brother Max Hutchinson RDSA who is assigned to the U S S Des Moines. He leaves Norfolk on the troop ship Jackson to join the cruiser at a Cuban port as apprentice radar man after graduating fourth in a 56 student class at Combat Information Center. Easter visitors from Toledo and Shuman family toured Norfolk aboard the Midway and the Missouri and viewed blooming azalea gardens.

Smith of Binghamton New York a passenger on a Greyhound bus involved in an April 18 wreck near Sandusky Ohio suffered a fractured left kneecap X rays showed the injury he received while en route back to Binghamton after selling income at Careys 317 Glen Avenue Fourteen people were hospitalized and extensive property damage occurred as the bus crashed into a truck tractor outfit and into another vehicle later.
