The High School Mystery Sneaks Into Friday Night

Betty Hamler and Maurice Zahn report a high school mystery event in the auditorium on Friday night April 12. The freshman class presented a chapel program noted as musical and splendid featuring devotions, several soloists and duets, hillbilly impersonations, acrobatics, and announcements by Mr Driver and Mr Mulholland with Judson Frederick as announcer.

Hi Y Members Attend District Conference at Marion

Saturday afternoon and evening Hi Y members from the local club attended a district Hi Y conference in Marion. Dr. Josephson spoke at the conference, followed by a banquet and dance. Attendees included Richard Jacob, Tommy Schira, Harold Azader, Harold Trambell, Charles Ziebarth, Maurice Zahn, Wayne Zahn and Rex Huston, with Mr. Mulholland and Mr. Blose accompanying.

Excellent Week Yields Ties in School Tests

Several pupils tied for first in English with Verna Lessig Beatrice Presler and Virginia Ritter. Martha Ann Sponsler second in English and first in geography. In arithmetic Verna Lersig first secured a second in the same test by Josephine Risner. Speed tests crown top performers in fifth grade room 14

In Room 14 grade five, the fastest finishers in arithmetic speed tests were Joyce Snyder Herbert Dible Eugene Newell Stanley Van Buren and Ann Schira. A group of nine earned 100 percent in the same test including Snyder Schira Putnam Dible Jacques Donelson Wenner Pace Humbert. In spelling 100 word tests Marilyn Dible Cicely Claude and Doris Platt scored perfect. The last six weeks honor roll includes Claude Snyder De Vene Frazier Snobarger and Moser.

Tulip Time Operetta at Vanlue School

The Vanlue high school presents the operetta Tulip Time in the school auditorium on Friday night April 12 at 8 pm. Police and Firemen's Ball Set With Fostoria Orchestra

Ernie Duffield and his 10 piece orchestra from Fostoria will play at the Police and Firemen's Ball at the Catholic hall on Thursday April 18. Knights of Columbus Joint Meeting Draws Attendees

About 75 members attended the Knights of Columbus gathering Tuesday evening with visiting Knights from Upper Sandusky and Kenton councils. Fr. Bayer and District Deputy Dowd spoke. Dowd announced the May Marion state convention and a Field Mass at Harding Memorial stadium with the Carey Franciscan seminary choir. Refreshments followed. another joint meeting is planned in Upper Sandusky next month.

Filling Stations Under Construction In Carey

Two new Standard Oil filling stations are under construction in Carey. The Shuman station on E Findlay Street will be a concrete block 28 by 38 foot building with two tanks and two drive-ins, costing about 8000 to 10000 dollars and opening the first week in May. The Courtad station at North Vance and North streets will cost about 8000 to 10000 dollars and open around June 1.
