Public School News Grade 4 Audubon Society Meeting

At Col Crawford School on Friday April 2 the Grade 4 Audubon Society held its final gathering. Eugene Ulrich presided with L Jane Twining in charge of seating. The program featured songs games guitar solos poems bird riddles and conducting judges. Anita Johnson Robert Coakley Martha Wenner L Jane Twining and Jacquelyn Mapes were among the participants with Miss Baker providing apples for refreshments.

Clyde Campbell Dies Suddenly at Vanlue Home

Clyde William Campbell died suddenly at his Vanlue home at 8 15 pm after a one day illness from heart trouble. Funeral at 2 pm Saturday at his residence with Rev F B Watt officiating. burial in Lee Cemetery. Born Carey June 19 1892 he was 44 years 9 months 18 days. March was colder and drier than normal with 1.97 inches of precipitation, 0.53 inches in a day on the 25th, and 1.41 inches below normal rainfall. The average temperature was 33.2 degrees, 4.2 degrees below normal, with highs of 55 and a low of 10, while snowfall reached 0.33 inches.

A son named Michael Stuart was born Friday March 26 to Mr and Mrs Clarence McCormick of E South Street, a 7 pound baby at Mercy Hospital Tiffin. Also, a son named Alfred Joseph was born Saturday morning to Mr and Mrs Nicholas Hucke northeast of Carey.

Carey Woman Killed in Iowa Crash Near Cedar Rapids

Mrs C D Campbell of Carey was killed Tuesday afternoon when the car she rode with her husband left the highway and overturned in a ditch near Cedar Rapids Iowa. Mr Campbell suffered cuts and bruises in the accident while the couple were returning from California. The wreck killed Mrs Campbell formerly Cass Cramer a native of Wharton and wife of Campbell for 48 years. The couple had hardware business ties in Wharton and Toledo and spent summers in Carey and winters in California or Florida. Their two children are dead and Mrs Elva Cramer was notified. The husband traveled from Cedar Rapids to retrieve the body by train.
