Crowds gathered on Vance Street beside Simonis Grocery for a merchants club drawing held Wednesday night. Winners included Mrs Richard Snook winning $5 in merchandise from Ponthins filling station, E L Yentzer $5 in trade from Snyder Lumber Co, and Margaret Zeis a 5 per cent ticket worth $880. Noted artist visits Carey on Friday
Noted artist Leon R. Pescheret and his wife from Whitewater Wisconsin visited Mr and Mrs George Newhard and family in Carey on Friday. Pescheret and Newhard served together in France with the 28th engineers during World War II. He is en route to Washington for a one man exhibit of colored etchings at the Smithsonian Institution. Born in England, Pescheret studied in France Belgium and England in 1934 and has done significant work for the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago.
