Two small blazes were fought on Friday in Carey. A hot plate in the parsonage porch ignited washing rags, causing minor damage but no injuries. At nine pm, a second alarm traced to linseed oil soaked rags in the Westend school store room. quick action limited loss to about 15 dollars, preventing a larger disaster.

Injured Workman at Stone Quarry
Charles Kennerley suffered a serious forehead wound at the stone quarry after a blast about six hundred feet away. A stone penetrated his cap and cut an inch and a half long gash, requiring two stitches.
