Boosters Honor GHS Athletes at March 30 Banquet

A large Booster sponsored dinner at Shrine Cafeteria honored Carey High School basketball and wrestling players. Rev John Elwood gave the invocation. Bob Donelson opened remarks. George Henry Bish received a Blue Devil patch from Coach Cooper and spoke briefly.

Girl Scouts Plan Columbus Trip Fundraiser

Cadette Troop 620 will canvass town this Saturday April 6 for empties to raise funds for a trip to Columbus during the last week of April. They will also sponsor a teenage style show on April 10 at Carey High School with Lasalle's clothing and admission 35 cents for students 50 cents for adults.

Hit Skip Damages Carey Automobile Believed Ford Sought

Carey Police report a hit and run at 10 30 a m Sunday damaging a 1967 Mustang Fastback owned by Rebecca Campbell of 359 E Findlay Street. The left rear was struck with about 200 dollars in damage. Witnesses describe the other car as a 1959 red and white Ford likely with a damaged right front.

Carey Council Acts on Alley Condition and Ordinances

The Carey council met in regular session with residents raising concerns about the alley between High Street and the C and O Railroad near E Findlay Street. Council approved first reading of ordinance 634 raising cemetery rates and renewed the garbage contract for two years. Cleanup week at end of April will allow free rubbish disposal. Additional topics included alley repairs near Ash and Brown, dog control enforcement, and two other motorcycle related ordinances approved.

Mrs Harold Roth of Wyandot County Red Cross presented a film on Viet Nam relief efforts. The program highlighted family emergency messages, rapid transport to the U S, blood transfusion costs, hospital letters for isolated servicemen, and interest free loans for those in need. Carey and Upper Sandusky quotas were noted, with local fundraising urged.

The Carey Band Mothers met Monday evening at 7 30 and discussed new drum major and majorette uniforms. Senior Band Awards Night is set for May 7 at 6 30. The District II Band contest is this Saturday in Clyde with the band performing at 10 30. The Spring Concert will be held at Carey High School on April 19.
