Built on 12.5 acres part of a 2010 city land purchase funded by a voter approved 30 million bond, the project was driven by the San Juan Capistrano Open Space Foundation led by Brad Gates. The park features a bio swale, native plants numbering around 240 species, and water conservation features, marking a future feel for the area.

Last hotel proposal faces San Juan Capistrano council
Movie creator Steve Oedekerk and developer press forward with a 136‑room hotel, 33 townhomes and a 189‑space underground garage on 3.17 acres at Camino Capistrano. He vows no new rounds or sales, backing Urban Village Development Co. Hilton Worldwide would operate the four‑star hotel, with plans to rise near the Egan House as the downtown project’s sole viable hotel option after Plaza Bandeiras fell through. The City Council meets June 17 after a 3‑2 Planning Commission vote favoring the plan.
