City Manager George Scar borough will facilitate the final Blue Ribbon Panel at 7 p.m. at the community center. The city will not pay Daniel Iacofano an extra $4,000 for tonight after paying $13,000 for the first four meetings. Public input invited as the panel studies a downtown village plan.
A city staff report urges the City Council to reject a Home Depot on Stonehill Drive while recommending certification of environmental studies for the project. It cites traffic concerns and notes residents voted 67 percent against selling city land for the store in November.
The council will discuss halting work on a proposed traffic light at Via Cordova and Ortega Highway at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. If approved, staff will coordinate with Caltrans to locate an alternative on Ortega and hold meetings with affected residents.
Mission San Juan Capistrano administrator Jerry Miller resigns effective July 31 after raising more than 17 million dollars in 11 years for the Great Stone Church restoration. He will join Heydon Building Systems in Tucson to work on eco friendly, energy efficient homes.

Anthony Sosa a 13 year security officer aided in capturing Tamara Bohler 45 accused of stabbing her boyfriend and his son in a Mission Viejo condominium. Bohler faces murder and attempted murder charges with arraignment scheduled July 25 at Harbor Justice Center. Weber 45, a Los Angeles chef, survived knife wounds to face neck and chest.
