City Council Sets Path for End of Redevelopment Agency
The City Council voted unanimously to become the successor to San Juan Capistrano’s Redevelopment Agency and form a housing authority to oversee housing functions and liquidate agency assets to cover 52 million in debt. The plan preserves a 13.8 million real estate portfolio and supports affordable housing programs, including a 34-family subsidized living effort in Little Hollywood, while outlining oversight by a new board and pending legislation.
