Zoomars seeks new home for Juan the dinosaur statue

Zoomars Petting Zoo owner Carolyn Franks has 30 days to remove the 13 foot tall apatosaurus from 31791 Los Rios St after San Juan Capistrano officials denied an appeal and ruled the statue must go. Franks plans a going away party and seeks a buyer while noting 80 percent public support but facing city opposition over permits and district compatibility. The statue, bought for 12000 last year and reportedly costing thousands more in studies, has drawn preservationists and detractors alike. Local officials say apatosaurus did not inhabit the area.
