Local notes report many moves visits and births including a girl born to Mr and Mrs Jett. Several residents travel to Amarillo Bovina Panhandle Illinois and Oklahoma City. Amarillo plans a Fourth celebration with barbecue. Rector Lester returns from Yale and Dr Latham moves to Stanton.
The improvised tabernacle revival led by Rev. A P Lowery draws both orthodox and broader attendees with 75 conversions reported. 37 express willingness to join churches including Baptists Presbyterians and Methodists. Other notes cover a judge discharging a defendant on jeopardy grounds and bank judgments against James D Hamlin and I J Brokaw. Probate matters note M Riggs of Forney appointed guardian for minor Jordan heirs. Regular jury was discharged without session.
Last week the county court discharged T L Diffilly who faced a false pretenses charge. This week L B Jarvis had an appeal on keeping a disorderly house dismissed and remained in custody until lower court judgment. Geo L Abbott, tied to a card case, was appealed from the justice court.
Canyon City will celebrate the Fourth with morning open air concert on the square, an evening baseball game at the Fairgrounds, and a night concert at the opera house with admission to aid the band. Local business owners pledge to close from Friday night to Monday morning for the holiday.
