Canton election officials ready for a rush as men and women must register in person on designated days. New registration books replace old ones and voters are assigned to new precincts. Polling places will be staffed. affidavits allowed for distant or ill electors.
Twenty five people were injured when two cars of the New York and Northern Traction Co. collided head on at Rockaway Boulevard and Moorest. Eight were severe and Mrs. Anna F. Johnson of Rockville Center suffered a fractured skull. Cars were telescoped and airborne, crews blamed speed or slippery rails. An investigation to identify the responsible motorman is underway.
Harvey Wetzel paymaster for Hankin Coakley Construction Co. was held up by two bandits here late today and slugged. He saved $1,300 more that he had with him and kept two of three money packages, while attempting to pay off workers at a construction site.

Stark County fair price commissioner Joseph Calmelot announced a drive to curb high rents and restaurant prices after seven landlord complaints and several eateries failing to post price lists. Prosecutions will begin if landlords and gougers do not show cause, with more complaints expected at the next meeting.
DOJ agents raided a Chicago house and arrested a man named Witty Schechman, once secretary to Nicholas Lenine. Documents seized reportedly include a code for Russian radicals to communicate and show Schechman came to the United States as a delegate of the third Internationale to a Chicago congress.
Gipsy Pat Smith an English soldier evangelist arrives in Canton to lead a four week evangelistic meeting at First Congregational Church beginning Sunday morning. He fought in the British army through World War I and will lecture on war experiences while leading singing and preaching. A choir of at least 65 is planned and additional talks are expected at other venues.
Lexington touring cars rise by 100 dollars per unit announced by Frank B. Ansted president of the Lexington Motor Co Connorsville Ind through M. Kelly Co Lexington. The move follows a 200 dollar sedan price increase on September 1 and Ansted predicts further 1921 price rises.
Canton 10 to send a large Stark county contingent to the American Legion convention in Cleveland. More than 500 ex service men of Stark county, many veterans of Europe, will march in the parade with 30 000 others from 9 650 posts across 49 states and district and possessions. Harry Hazlett leads the Canton post and will serve as delegate. Two hundred depart Sunday morning. the rest Monday with other delegations. The 37th Division veterans will hold a reunion in Cleveland Sunday before the convention.
Jacob Schiff banker and noted philanthropist dies at 6 30 PM in New York aged 73. Born in Frankfurt he arrived in the city after the Civil War and rose as a Kuhn Loeb director and head of several major firms and foundations. He led charitable ventures including Montefiore home and Baron De Hirsch fund and founded Jewish Theological Seminary and Semitic Museum at Harvard.

Tulsa police call reports that Billy Dansey, missing since October, is in Tulsa with Mrs Nettie Radcliffe, wife of an old man, as foolish rumors. Investigation has failed to locate Mrs Radcliffe.
The Citizens Building and Loan Co of Canton will open North Canton offices on the main floor of the Upright building around October 1. R. M. Church will run the branch and offer home loans, savings at 4 percent, and certificates at 5 percent. The five year lease and $820000 capitalization will guide the venture with J. Br. Brothers as president and a roster of directors including William Feller.
United States marshals seek Captain William Barrett on a warrant for the theft of 125000 in jewels from Mrs. John D. Spreckels Jr. in London. Barrett, freed earlier, admitted knowing Spreckels but denied any theft and denied deserting his wife.
Cleveland — Several landlords, fearing charges for excess rent, sought guidance at the fair price commission offices. Dr. R. C. Roueche, commission chairman, advised that lowering rents is the only path to avoid prosecution.

A furnace burst, hot iron and cinders swept workers, and authorities have not removed bodies due to fear of another blast. A special Typographical Union meeting is announced for Monday at 7:00 PM at Repository Medical rooms for important business.
