A chaotic scene shows a fleet of yachts houseboats and barges piled along the Miami river after the hurricane struck. A theater is ripped in half a large houseboat sits on the Royal Palm terrace and a warehouse is ruined with only grapefruit juice cases spared.
Philadelphia crowd at the Sesquicentennial stadium on Thursday night shows overwhelming support for Gene Tunney in the Dempsey bout. Governor Pinchot publicly endorses Tunney, signaling strong political and public backing as Tunney prepares for the ring.
In Shanghai on September 22 two Wu Pei Fu supporters General Tien Wei Chin and Chin Yu Nao reportedly revolted aided by Hong Kow. The upheaval follows the execution of Tien Wei Chin’s brigadier general. over 150000 troops are said to be involved as Gen Sun Chuan Fang gathers 40000 troops likely to advance into the battle area.
Miami reports a massive hurricane toll with 50 million to 190 million dollars in damage and numerous fatalities. Relief committees, the Red Cross, American Legion, and the National Guard aid police and hospitals in caring for thousands of injured and destitute across the city as boats, trains, and ships are wrecked and Coral Gables and Hialeah endure severe destruction.
Governor Donahey urged Ohio counties to forward Red Cross chairmen names or appoint a banker to receive relief contributions for Florida. Assistant Atty. Gen. Grieweld will represent Secretary of State Thad Brown in the supreme court restraining writ case. The writ, sought by Senator John F. Burke Elyria and the Primary Defense League, is set for September 28 as announced today in Columbus.
Canton indicts Carl Studer on three counts including maintaining a house of prostitution and two perjury charges linked to his testimony in the Don Mellett murder case. Prosecutor McClintock predicts Studer will be in the penitentiary within 30 days with arraignments and trials set for the following week. New evidence on the Mellett murder will be investigated thoroughly.

The great hurricane sliced a 60 mile path of death from Florida Keys to the Mississippi. Florida shore towns bury the dead and search for the missing as damage runs high. Death toll projected around 459 with coastal Alabama and Mississippi communities slowly regaining communication and reporting extensive destruction but lower loss of life than feared.
Testimony shows a claim for 26 shares of seized German owned assets of the American Metals Co was dissolved August 2 1921 by the United States attorney general and the alien property custodian while a $7 000 000 claim for the same trust fund was granted in September 1921. Marry M Daugherty and Thomas W Miller former officials are charged with conspiracy regarding the September 1921 approval.
American Red Cross relief efforts for Florida hurricane victims near the 1 million dollar mark as donations pour in. A $10,000 emergency grant was telegraphed to Sebring to aid residents, with relief efforts coordinated from Moorehaven and Clewiston. Sebring Chamber of Commerce reports urgent needs and local families sheltered.
