Canton public schools show rising enrollment from 1920 to 1922, totaling 12,458 in 1920, 13,386 in 1921, and 14,981 in 1922. McKinley High School leads growth, with 1,100 pupils in 1920, 1,426 in 1921, and 1,885 currently.
Hartford school opened Tuesday morning with staff including Verna Mathes editor Dessie Miller assistant editor Frank Arnold and Harold Woford reporters. Janitor Mr White replaces Mr Suffocool who broke an arm during vacation. Dr March Miss Snyder and Miss Albaugh examine teeth. Miss Albaugh will clean teeth next week. The school starts in fine spirit with teachers resuming study and travel to make this year a success for pupils and community.
Muskingum College prepares for opening day as campus renovations finish and enrollments rise beyond previous years. Students arrive from across the United States, including Vermont, while Coach Henderson returns from Wisconsin with new PE ideas. Dean Layton and Ferne Parsons Lyton take a year off for doctoral studies, and Dr. G. R. Johnson heads the Oratory Department in their absence.
Springfield dispatch notes that Wittenberg College expects a 25 to 30 percent enrollment increase next year with freshman classes over 375 and total attendance likely above 800. Open date is September 12 as campus upgrades expand Home Economics, science, library space, and housing.
Bluffton College in Bluffton Ohio stands as the state's only Mennonite college. Originating as Central Mennonite College the institution opened November 6 1900 and became Bluffton College on January 27 1914. The campus hosts liberal arts teaching music and Witmarsum Theological Seminary with 361 students from 13 states and Canada.
The McKinley High School Monthly announces new leadership with H. W. Benedict as faculty adviser replacing Miss Madge K. Lindsey who moves to Shaw High. F. D. Headley becomes business adviser. Jack Tombaugh leads as editor in chief and William Harris as business manager with twelve literary departments each guided by editors and associate editors.
Hartford school submits its weekly Junior Daily News with Vera Mathes as editor and staff names listed. The paper aims to grow to eight pages next Sunday marking Canton's first exclusive school newspaper birthday with a special cartoon by Edgar Bridge on the front page.
Stark County board of education districts sent school work from all townships to the county fair. Judges Prof Lester Ivins and Prof L W Miller of Kent State Normal College praised extensive experience and judged five best and five second best in class one and two room schools.
