Crabbe Act Goes On Ohio Ballot
Columbus Sept 10 One referendum measure will be submitted to Ohio voters on the November ballot. Secretary of State Harvey C. Smith ruled that only the Crabbe act providing state enforcement of prohibition laws will be on the ballot. He said ratification of the federal suffrage amendment makes submitting a referendum on other measures unnecessary. The decision covers House Joint Resolution 112 granting women notary public rights and House Bill 690 granting limited woman suffrage. He also noted a Supreme Court decision that referendum does not affect ratification of a federal constitutional amendment.
