Three alleged highwaymen attempted a guard camp holdup north of the city. Deputies and armed citizens pursued them after a general alarm. one suspect, Mike Tomtrian, 82, was captured in a field. two others, Sam Kinder 25 and John 22, fled by car but were halted as the posse closed in. Night Storm Slams Maximo School Wounding Two Teachers
A severe electrical storm struck the Maximo school Wednesday morning as lightning hit the bell rope while Miss Martha Gulling rang the recess bell. She and Miss Alice Crogan were seriously injured, with two pupils lightly burned. Fire crews extinguished flames as students evacuated calmly. Gulling transported to Mercy hospital in Canton and Crogan to Alliance city hospital.
