A collision near Xenia claims four lives when a train strikes a passing car. The accident scene drew crowds as authorities investigated the fatal crash and identified the victims.
William S. Brock and Edward F. Schlee in the monoplan Pride of Detroit arrived Karachi en route to Allahabad for an around the world flight. Miss Chrysler, the first woman to finish a 100 hour nonstop automobile drive, clocked 1,420.2 miles through Canton and Stark County despite protests. The McKinley Storage & Transfer Co. truck carried her vehicle. Public appearance and prize announcements followed, with newsboys contest winners named for Canton Daily News sales.
William A. McCrea, 77, prominent Canton businessman and founder of W A McCrea & Co, died at home from a stroke. He owned the Barnett hotel and was active in St John’s Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Canton Chamber of Commerce. Survived by a daughter, sister, and three grandchildren. Funeral at St. John’s Catholic Church, Rev. Edward P. Graham officiating. Burial in St. Peter’s cemetery mausoleum.
About 22 000 pupils will start the new term in Canton city schools Tuesday morning. Public and parochial enrollments total 22 000 with 34 public buildings and five parochial facilities. 640 teachers will staff the system, including 140 in high schools.

In Youngstown on Saturday night Tony DeCapua shot 12 people around his home. Seven are dead including DeCapua’s wife and his four young grandchildren. two others are certain to survive, while three more victims are critically injured. Police report DeCapua and a patrolman were wounded. DeCapua attempted to flee but was cornered. Five prisoners also escaped from the Chillicothe reform school during a weekend breakout.
Four persons were killed when a car driven by Frank Snider failed to see a train at a crossing near Xenia Ohio. Victims include Miss Margaret Snider Mrs Mary Holler and Mrs Ann Newton. Adolph Holler injured likely fatally. Witnesses said the auto was hurled 30 feet into a tele phone pole. The driver died at the scene and three women were in the back seat.

Affidavits charging first degree murder were filed against Patrick Riley and Fred Kellogg, convicts at a state brick plant, for the shooting death of Grant Weakley in the office of Dr. Kishler. Donors are urging clemency for Sigmund Woedalski and Irwin Ewald, two convicts on the scene who did not escape. Also reported are injuries to R Williams, Hollywood, and Jack Cooper, Jasper Park, in a rodeo crash at the state fair.
In Paris on September 4 the tomb of the unknown warrior was reconsecrated with about fifty thousand Parisians and war veterans representatives including the American Legion. A manifesto from the Bo elaliat party urged a boycott of the government festival on September 19.
