A major blaze at the 30th Street Pennsylvania railroad shops in Pittsburgh destroyed a large two story building used as a repair shop and commissary and fatally trapped seven men. Ten were injured, two likely to die, as rescuers battled flames and smoke while hundreds watched from nearby cliffs. Investigations across federal state and local levels began to determine cause and whether it was accidental or deliberate. The loss was placed at 220000 dollars.
