Four women prisoners escaped Mount Joy prison in Dublin by scaling the wall with rope ladders. They removed cell bars and hauled ladders to the top of the wall after months of work. The inmates were sentenced to long terms in a British military jail.

Canton ministers unanimously backed the soldiers adjusted compensation bill and discussed fundraising for the Union Gospel Mission. With 20 000 member churches behind the mission, a 30 cent per capita assessment is planned to cover a 6000 budget. INDIANAPOLIS Ind Oct 31 A sweeping injunction barring the United Mine Workers of America from spreading unionism in West Virginia and killing the check off system in the central competitive field comprising Illinois Indiana Ohio and Western Pennsylvania was proclaimed by Judge Anderson in the U S district court. The injunction applies to virtually all Indiana operators using the check off system by which operators collect miners union dues.

County commissioners learned from an informal legal opinion that a combined county jail and juvenile detention home could be built without a bond issue. A jail component would require a vote, but the detention facility does not have that limitation. They reviewed years-old jail plans for a four story building on the current jail site, intended to blend with the courthouse.
A request was presented to the county commissioners on Monday to pave a road from North Canton to connect with the McDonalds ville brick road just south of the village. The current paved stretch runs about two miles west from North Canton with over two miles remaining. Officials expect to include the project in 1922 improvements as a key county intersecting road. During the American Legion convention opening, Fern Renner and Roy Brown of western Nebraska were wed in the air aboard the G L 6 coupe at 1 800 feet. The minister performed the ceremony as the crowd watched, Brown quipping that he meant the airplane business, not the nuptials.
