An explosion at Vado fort in Genoa province today killed and wounded many as fire spread from the town to the fort. The blast was heard up to 150 miles away, and Vado, a seaside fortress town, was heavily damaged.

William Snabley aged 50 was held by police in Columbus after the murder of his wife. Mrs Snabley’s throat was cut from ear to ear and found at their home last night. she was last seen alive Sunday. Snabley was arrested after a patrolmen chase and claimed he was attacked by his wife with a razor on Sunday and remembers nothing until Monday afternoon.
The House divided on a resolution to expel Texas Democrat Thomas L. Blanton with support for severer censure. Many members pledged to seek modification while Blanton planned to return to the Capitol.
In Columbus, officials consider successors to Edward J. Shattuck and Harry H. Miller who resigned amid criticism of state buying. Albert W. Davis, budget commissioner, handles office work as Attorney General Price refused to defend suits over allegedly illegal coal purchase bids.
Safe after 60 hours of drifting in the Gulf of Mexico Lieutenant A M Derby and Mechanic s Mate Wandel were rescued aboard the U S Allegheny and were en route to Pensacola Naval Air Station. They were found 125 miles southwest of the Mississippi river mouth and about 50 miles from land.

Chicago October 26 rail executives and 1200 union chiefs gathered before the United States rail labor board to avert the October 30 strike over wage cuts and payroll reductions. The five brotherhoods represent about 400,000 workers and staged a vote against a 12 percent wage cut from July 1.
