Registration Update Shows Heavy Turnout Forecast

Officials report 4 774 women and 5 482 men registered for November elections in Canton and Alliance. Massillon saw 786 men and 1 191 men register while city totals reached 10 616. Next registration is Friday in Canton. Election board pleased with opening day turnout.

Clerk A J Hirstus awoke to collect about 40 women registrars who had taken precinct registration records home instead of delivering them to the board of sections as required. Some were roused at 3 am to make immediate returns while others refused to go to the city hall claiming it would delay their morning dress.

Canton rapid progress on its 1.28 million dollar water program aims for January finish.
