Car overturns in storm injuring six near Canton
Six people were hurt when their car slid off the Canton Richville road during a severe storm. Driver John Williams and passengers Hobart and Mrs Hammersley with a three year old child, and Wade Salling and his wife were taken to Aultman hospital with cuts. Wade Salling remained unconscious Sunday night into Monday morning. Spiker’s ambulance ferried the Sallings to the hospital while others were driven by motorists.

Shriners Train Stoned Through Canton Charges Silent
Railroad officials and Canton police investigated a rock attack on a Shriners train bound for a Philadelphia convention. Six windows were broken, passengers cut by glass, but no injuries were reported and motives or culprits were not identified. Eight trains carrying Shriners passed Canton that day.

Memorial Day Parade and Dedication Ceremonies Across Canton

Charles David a 35 year old colored man is dead and Ax White a 40 year old man faces a homicide charge after a dispute over ownership of a nickel bet in a crap game at Ohio Wood Preserving Co. White says David fired striking him before dying. Officials found David with his neck severed behind the left ear and bleeding. David survived by his widow two children and his mother.

Aerial Daredevil Drowns During Riverside Park Stunt
Billie Woods known as Wild Bill of Marietta Ohio perished in the Tuscara was river after leaping from an airplane at Riverside park. Dressed in a clown suit he wore heavy shoes that dragged him under as the crowd believed the cry for help was part of the stunt. Pilot Lyle H. Scott witnessed the fall and jumped in to try to rescue him but failed.

The industrial edition of The News was delivered to Canton and surrounding towns. Sunday trucks moved 10 loads to the post office while four to five tons of newsprint were sent to Alliance Mansillon New Philadelphia Dover Uhrichsville and outlying districts. Each copy weighed four pounds and about 80 tons of newsprint were used. Postmaster Cool aided routing and carrier help enabled the nationwide home delivery.
