Lima Ohio May 31 Police Sergeants John Goebel and Frank Eb erle must resign or be dismissed after participating in a Saturday night street brawl. They face charges of intoxication fighting conduct unbecoming an officer and using profane language as Safety Director Fred Fisher rules.
Eight persons were carried to safety by Cleveland firefighters from a three story business and apartment building on Woodland avenue. A woman and four children were among those rescued as flames threatened to trap them on the upper floors. Firemen deployed ladders and brought the group to safety.
In Columbus on May 31 the Warren and Niles Telephone company filed an application with the State Public Utilities Commission seeking higher rates. The filing did not specify a concrete increase amount. The commission ordered a hearing for June 30 to consider the request.
