A large Canton area observance honored veterans of Civil War Spanish American and World War I and II. Clergy and American Legion members led services at First Presbyterian and First Congregational churches with a parade to West Lawn Cemetery. Kinley Post G A R conducted a memorial program and graves were decorated with flowers as about 4000 people gathered.

Sixteen year old Thomas Moffatt fell from a canoe on Meyers Lake Sunday about 9 p.m. and drowned after his companions Howard Snyder and D H Hitler failed to reach him with the paddle.
