Columbus May 28 The spectre of death haunts Dick Howell Canton as his execution draws near. The prisoner shows rare emotion after weeks of marked composure and last night he met with Aries Redfield, a long time fellow inmate, before the scheduled punishment.

Theodore R. Ballard of 1212 Market Avenue Southeast was chosen Friday to join the Canton board of trustees to fill the unexpired term of George Lindsey who has resigned due to ill health. Ballard will serve until December 31, 1921 and was elected chairman of the board.
John Snyder and Nick Crista were rearrested in Alliance for the second time in two days after officers found a bushel basket filled with whiskey at Snyder's soft drink place. John Falk was taken into custody with them. Earlier, glasses containing liquor had been seized as evidence but later evaporated, forcing dismissal. Second offense will be charged. Falk listed as first offender. An Akron attorney arrived to defend them.
Boston May 28 Revenue Officer Cronin fought a one round bout with alleged bootleggers. four men were knocked out. The event featured Jack Dempsey and Georges Carpentier referenced in the report.

Passenger H C Fetters, 38, of 518 Arlington Ave NW, employed by Penn Laundry, was bruised when struck by a motorcycle driven by Canton Police Officer Grove at Shorbay and Tuscarawas. Fetters alighted from a Meyers Lake car and walked into the bike despite Grove blowing the horn. Injuries not serious. Fetters treated by Dr DeWitt and returned home.
