The Ku Klux Klan gave up use of the municipal Auditorium after protests by Mayor C. C. Curtis and a citizens' committee. The group will instead hold an open air assembly in Nimisila Park at eight o clock Thursday night.
An unassuming deputy sheriff served injunction papers Wednesday night that halted a Ku Klux Klan meeting in Akron after it began with the principal speaker introduced. Police dispersed a crowd as the gathering ended, with no visible pageantry or cross. The Klan later announced it would abandon the city auditorium and hold an open air gathering at Nimisilla Park at 8 p.m. Police protection was planned for the outdoor event.
Canton Real Estate Board held a summer outing at Waynesburg Grove with over fifty members. Teams captained by Hagerman and Cole played a baseball game won 15 to 11 by Hagerman. Henry Kempf and R G C Jones claimed horseshoes titles. A Wiener supper followed and plans for a fall event were announced.
The county election board let a contract for twenty voting booths to J. W. Walter at 805.40 dollars each. The board also established a new Battlesburg precinct and realigned Precinct G of the Ninth ward and a precinct of the Tenth ward in Canton.
North Adams police station damaged by a May 25 fire of unknown origin causing about 15000 dollars in damage. Police Captain Frank Ones broke an ankle escaping from the second story. Two prisoners were rescued from cells by officers.

A bill introduced by Rep Cable of Ohio provides for the naturalization of women aliens and states a wife does not gain citizenship through her husband. The measure also prevents denial of naturalization based on sex or marriage.

The National Clothing Co at 215 217 Tuscarawas Street was sold by H A Greenberger M M Sachs and Louis Raven to David Sachs of Columbus. The new owner will operate the store as an underselling departmentalized shop for men and boys, continuing the previous business plan.
Norman G. Warden received a four year term for possessing burglar tools and was transported to the Ohio penitentiary in a heavily guarded convoy. Police feared an escape attempt and doubled security at the workhouse after a tip of armed strangers in the city. The escort included Sheriff Cathon, Chief Deputy Kirk, and workhouse superintendent John Boyer, with a separate follow vehicle. The party reached Columbus without incident by 7:30 p.m.
Major W. T. Blake delaying his round the world flight from England as he refits in Paris. He plans to take off for Turin late today or Friday morning at the latest.
Naturalization exercises will be held in courtroom No. 3 Monday at 7 30 p m for fifty foreign born residents of the county. Judge Charles Krichbaum and others will speak. The event was moved from McKinley High school auditorium to the court room.
Nomination petitions were filed Thursday by Samuel Ake of Canton for county commissioner and John T Briggs of Massillon for representative. Both are Republicans. Ake previously served on the board of commissioners.
Canton plans its Memorial Day parade for Tuesday morning with formation between 9 and 10 and a 10 o clock start. The march runs through downtown to Westlawn with four cemetery services and taps at the corners. Major A Vignes will be grand marshal, aided by S W Swartz Graham Ruth Miner Schlemmer Walaska. Local groups join the Veterans of the G A R and others.
Fire in Portsmouth Virginia early today wrecked a moving picture theater and burned part of the Masonic temple. Guests fled the Monroe hotel beside the theater as authorities sought the blaze origin. Social and cards event listed at St Pauls Catholic Hall for Thursday evening May 25. Community league benefit advertised for Blue Pike location Friday and Saturday. W. J. Williams, a Canton fireman injured in a Canton Massillon road collision Monday night, was moved Wednesday to his home from Aultman Annex. He appeared at Justice C. F. Heminger’s office, pled not guilty to driving while intoxicated, and posted bond. He was weak during the arraignment and required help entering the office.

Mrs Mary B Waltermire a representative of the Ohio department of education will visit Canton Friday to confer with Superintendent Hawkins on establishing a school for crippled children within the public schools Hamilton county Rotary club hosts the midday luncheon for her visit.
The anthracite wage committee of the United Mine Workers of America will reject a 21 percent wage cut proposed by mine operators. They will also demand full union recognition, a living wage with differential scales, and an eight hour day with punitive overtime. Delegates include John Lawis and district presidents, presenting to operators at the Union League Club.
A 24 year old man A J Camp was arrested on a contributing to delinquency charge after a high school girl warned authorities about his advances near McKinley and West Creek bridge. Probation officer Mrs Lillian Manderbaugh and supervisor Wilson Hawkins acted leading to his arrest and bond. The incident marks a broader campaign against mashers who harass schoolgirls.
In Cleveland May 25 Tony Stefanek aged 35 shot Miss Mary Phillips aged 30 after his marriage proposal was refused then killed himself. Neighbors heard the proposal and the refusal followed by two shots. Stefanek lay dead when officers arrived.

Congressman C. L. Knight of Akron says he would run for governor if needed but will support Governor Davis if he seeks reelection. George Elmner Munroe, 18, of Camden, told Prosecutor Wolverton at noon that he kidnapped and murdered seven year old Ira Kramer. Kramer's body was found in Newton Creek about a month ago. Munroe said he was "down and out and needed money."
