An extra one cent per gallon gas tax, approved in the Sullivan bill, takes effect tonight. Canton residents will pay about 540 dollars daily across the year, totaling roughly 197 100 dollars locally. Low test price rises from 20 to 23 cents, high test from 23 to 24 cents. statewide revenue from one cent per gallon is about 7.9 million annually, with the two cent rate now at 14 million and the new three cent total reaching 21 million.
