Elks lodge workers in Canton sold doughnuts Saturday as prices jumped from a dime to ten dollars. A dollar and five dollar doughnuts were common, aided by Bob Hall’s Lyceum show and Friday appeal nights. A noon Monday meeting will report results and close the drive.
Lee Pike a 27 year old Toledo cook pleaded not guilty Saturday to second degree murder in the death of Hilda Moore formerly of Canton who lived with Pike as his common law wife. Pike strangled her in a rooming house and later surrendered to police saying he acted from love and fear for her. Moore's body was brought back to Canton for burial by relatives.
Lieutenant Roger, a French aviator, began a voyage from Villa Coublay toward Morocco at 9 this morning as preparation for a possible trans Atlantic flight. He plans to follow Fontan’s route from Africa to St Pauls Rocks and the Brazilian coast, after Fontan failed on three attempts.
The 25 year franchise for N O T to operate Canton to Massillon on the Lincoln highway is drafted for submission to the N O T. It requires a 10 cent fare or 20 cent round trip, new crossings at every road, double tracks, and tracks seven and a half feet from the highway center.
