In Sewport New Jersey Mr Little, once a prominent real estate member, resigns to devote time to pursuing fame on the professional stage. The Littles are a well known local family. The Styles in New York report seven hundred bees and hornets escaped in a cage, causing a wild scramble.
A young woman named Miss September Morn bathed in the front window of Smith art store as Chief Smith protested. He ordered the display removed but the woman moved to a rear room while Mrs. L. A. Smith defended the exhibit saying it was no more provocative than other frank pictures.
United Press reports a balcony floor collapse at a crowded auditorium in Beach, California. Between 200 and 300 people fell to the floor below, with at least 17 dead counted and about 100 injured. Doctors, ambulances and police rushed to the scene as the death toll was expected to rise.
Clarence J. Banar a miller and Miss Muska planned a Friday wedding but lacked a civil officiant. Deputy Probate and Justice Correll arranged a quick ceremony at the Moose club, performed in lodge regalia chaos, before the couple boarded a midnight train to Denver for their new life. Royal Blend Coffee is noted for its fine flavor.

Susan Camp about 60 living on Franklin Street was struck by an automobile driven by Gertrude Harris at Third and Market streets. Harris, learning to drive with Miller Tyson as instructor, failed to stop after the collision. Camp suffered a dislocated shoulder a deep cut over the eye and multiple bruises and was taken to Dr. W A McConkey office then home.
Aviator Anthony Janius of St. Louis starts at 9 a m heading to St. Louis. He travels along the Ohio River to Cairo Illinois then up the Mississippi with one machinist. The 205 mile trip is expected to take about four hours with a fuel stop at Cape Girardeau Missouri.
Adjutant General Wood orders an election in Company C eighth infantry O. N. G. to fill a first lieutenant vacancy. C. E. Price resigns after acting as lieutenant since reorganization two years ago. Eighth regiment to camp July 6 to 18 at Camp Perry rifle ranges, first visit there in four years after past maneuvers and a monument dedication at Steubenville.
The G A R program for Memorial day May 25 and Decoration day May 30 was completed Friday. Memorial services will be held Sunday at the First Evangelical church and a Decoration day service will follow at the Auditorium with Col William Wagner as president and Col H S Moses as marshal.
Monroe Green of Massillon was indicted by the grand jury for cutting with intent to wound but was found guilty of assault and battery in common pleas court Friday afternoon.
City Auditor Brumbaugh refuses to pay W. J. Osborne for private detective work as a sworn special officer. Mayor Turnbull had sworn Osborne in to watch Sunday saloons and vice zones. Chief Smith says payment will be made. The issue echoes earlier battles over special officers and pay.
Safety Director Dunwoodie Saturday announced the appointment of John A. Young of 12 Union Street as dog catcher. Young will begin Monday and spend days preparing his gear. Only two dog tags sold so far, vs about 800 last year, with tags due by next Thursday. An excursion to Cleveland via W and L S offers a $1.25 round trip on sale Saturday good return Saturday or Sunday, and $1.10 round trip Sunday only.
Mildred Stuart eight year old daughter of John Stuart remains hospitalized at Mercy after being accidentally shot by her 12 year old brother Gordon while playing. Doctors J P Dewitt and E P Morrow have not fixed the operation date. surgeons consider surgery may save her eyesight.
D. J. Tschantz president of the Canton Buggy Co was found guilty in police court Saturday of auto speeding. It was his second offense and he was fined 25 dollars plus costs. Park Theater tickets on sale in advance at the N T waiting room. Stark 697.-Art of
Thomas E K Gill a 57 year old Canton saloonist died from a brain concussion after an accident Thursday. He fell when a wagon chair tipped throwing him to the ground. Survived by a widow and four children. Funeral Monday at 2 p m at the house with burial in Westlawn cemetery.
Former representative James Bacon who allegedly killed his wife and stepdaughter ends a hunger strike after 108 hours by drinking coffee and eating a cinnamon roll. County physician Jo Hereford weighs force feeding due to Bacon's deteriorating condition.
The Canton Medical Society opposed the Board of Health plan to build a two story detention hospital in Canton citing cost and feasibility concerns. They argued combining smallpox and typhoid wards would be dangerous and questioned whether the city could sustain such a facility. Dr. James Frauntfelter warned of the burden if undertaken.
Treasurer Ake launches the first tax collection of the season Tuesday. A treasurer's office representative will set up in Hartville to receive payments and issue receipts, with other county villages visited over the following three weeks.
Wire Chief Mesnar overcame his prejudice against humiliating fire horses by putting them to pulling a hearse. He sold a fine team Friday to a Fremont undertaking firm for 400 dollars. It will be a nice quiet life for them in their old days, said Mesnar.
An east bound B O express derailed at Micasant Valley while speeding. The train stopped within three feet of a river embankment. passengers were badly shaken but none injured. A broken rail is blamed for the accident.
Kreg Walters, indicted for breaking into a medical counter at the W L depot, pleaded guilty in common pleas court Friday afternoon and was sentenced to the state reformatory.
Rev W G Marsh a longtime anti saloon movement figure in Canton and former superintendent of the Canton District for the Anti Saloon League, died this week of heart failure. He directed a prolonged three year battle in the counties district and later worked in Toledo and Chicago before falling ill. He is survived by his widow and one daughter Edna. Funeral services were held Saturday in Edgerton Ohio.
