Earl C. Clarkson confessed to tying his eight month old daughter with a rope around her neck and striking her. Police describe the case as the most brutal assault reported in years. Clarkson says indigestion and a crying baby provoked the act. his wife aided with a knife but says he has been unstable since a prior car accident.

Cooper of 2707 12th St NW died at Aultman hospital from burns and shock after reaching for a pan of scalding water as her mother washed dishes. Funeral services will be held at her grandparents’ home in Strasburg with burial in Strasburg cemetery. Coroner T. H. Shorb planned an investigation.
Isaac Bowman age 86 longtime Stark county resident died Thursday night at his Osnaburg home near Robertsville after months of ill health. He is survived by one daughter Ada Lautzenheiser who lived with him. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 1 PM at the home with burial in Mapleton Lutheran cemetery.
