London May 20. Francis Acland told the house of commons the government has no understanding with Germany about participation in the Panama Pacific exposition in San Francisco. A cabinet meeting was expected to discuss a deputation urging Prime Minister Asquith to reconsider England’s refusal to exhibit at the fair.
In Chillicothe Ohio on May 20 the Richmonddale Rossco post office was entered last night and $150 in money and stamps were stolen. The safe was not locked.

United Press reports a three day clash between Indians and negroes near Puerto Barrios Guatemala with 250 killed and 300 wounded. An American negro attempting to woo Indian queen Narada sparked the uprising. the queen was tortured by her tribe.
Chicago readers face higher beef prices as pork and mutton supplies run below normal and fish grows unusually scarce. Wholesalers seek 1 4 to 3 4 cents extra per pound while retailers add a full cent, reflecting stronger demand for beef.

Dr Harry J Custer a former Columbus oculist is reported near death after five days in a city hall cell. Police moved him to the county jail as governor Cox issued requisition papers for removal to Pittsburgh. Local officials expressed shock at the jail conditions and described his deteriorating state.
General Manager Curry testified in the Canton Massillon highway case about N. O. T. finances. He defended stock issuance after consolidations, denying watering of stock and saying exchanges were fair. The testimony focused on the corporation’s past stock dealings and holdings.

Victor Banoni a Trinidad bartender is to be arraigned on murder of Edward Kessling at Forbes mine during the April 29 assault by the flying column. Union leaders threaten warrants for Under-Sheriff Zeke Martin and mining officials as a grand jury is expected to be convened within two weeks to probe strike disorders. leaders target John Lawson John McLennon Edward Dowell and Gen John Brown.
