Canton faces dusty streets as 10 miles to clean with no extra staff. Service Director Kent urges immediate funding or an ordinance to charge property owners under a zone system for street cleaning. Council stalled on Kent plan while weighing a vehicle tax to fund repairs.
A horse near Norman Floom's home on Massillon New Berlin road cried at dawn revealing Edward Boron dead beside a wrecked buggy. The 39 year old Boron suffered a broken neck and fractured skull. he is the brother of August Boron of Canton. Investigating authorities note the fatal run away occurred Saturday night.
Last Monday heavy rainfall in San dyville flooded the Henline home yard after the canal bed house sat below the road. West Henline sues the San dyville trustees for $50 damages, heard Monday before Squire A C Beer.
Frederick Beyreuther received a cumulative sentence of 126 years hard labor and 2 years without labor after being convicted on two burglary charges and related offenses.
H H Essick and C O Betz urged quick action on mothers pensions before Juvenile Judge Krchbaum. Paris township applicants, including a widow in Minerva with four children, await monthly payments as delays persist while other counties proceed.
Henry D Alexander a blacksmith of 808 Second Street NW patented a grass rake attachment that cleans leaves and grass from the rake teeth without using hands. The patent was reported Monday by patent lawyer H E Dunlap of Wheeling West Virginia.
Judge Quinn in police court Monday morning ordered neighborhood feuds to stop and warned of workhouse sentences for ongoing disputes. Clara Manist was arrested Saturday night for abusive language directed at August Schimpf. she received a suspended 10 day workhouse sentence on agreeing not to disturb neighbors. The two Schimpf children testified, repeating the insults and hearing the judge explain the consequences of lying under oath.
An official forecast indicates generally fair conditions tonight and tomorrow with mild temperatures. Data appears partially garbled but suggests light winds and no significant precipitation for the period.
Secretary Bryan demands reprisals for the Parks and Silliman outrages. Huerta reiterates conditions for retirement while signaling no concession on reform terms. The clash over the assassination and the looming confrontation heightens with Mexican forces preparing a major operation.
United Press dispatch reports Huerta may resign the provisional presidency if the United States provides a 400 million loan and a 99 year Magdalena Bay lease. Conditions include supervision by an international panel and Huerta choosing his successor while barring Carranza. Washington also presses for Consul Silliman’s release and for punishment of Parks’ death. Brazil seeks action on the case.
Hiram Weaver and Tracy Weaver were arrested Saturday night on suspicion and arraigned Monday before Judge Quinn. The Weaver woman allegedly conducted herself unbecomingly and leaped through a coal shed window to avoid arrest. The husband showed a discharge card from Lakeside hospital for an appendicitis operation. Mrs. Weaver claimed she supported her husband by working daily. Judge Quinn ordered the pair held for investigation.
Late Saturday a burglar forced the rear door of Isaac Noll’s grocery at 903 8th St SE and took seven pairs of socks cigars candy and ten pipes. Police notified.
Lake dances are scheduled Tuesday Wednesday Friday and Saturday nights this week as advertised.
Coxey's second army of six privates, one mule, and a goat left Frederick Maryland en route to Washington. If no obstacles appear the group will reach Pennsylvania by Wednesday and resume the shadow of the 1890s Coxey march. Goat milk is helping keep the marchers in good shape despite blistered feet. The followers' next plans in Washington are not yet decided.
Four ward teachers in Canton public schools will resign at term end to take jobs elsewhere. Gertrude and Mable Smith move to Montana with pay increases from 70 to 90 then 108 dollars monthly for Gertrude and from 45 to 86 then 96 for Mable, after pension deductions. Persis Chapin leaves Liberty school for a position in Terenas.
Rudolph Brown, hurt in an explosion at Coxey’s sane-stone quarries near Massillon, won a $2500 damages verdict in Common Pleas Court. The Court of Appeals affirmed Judge Ake ruling, reversing the jury decision that Coxey must pay.
Walter F. Brown of Toledo, state chairman of the bull moose party, will come to Canton either Saturday or next Monday to rally Stark county moose for county tickets. The meeting at Courtland hotel includes a supper and a county central committee session after Brown speaks, with Abt predicting a large turnout and the rise of the progressive party toward a United States senator victory next fall.
Walter Ruffier of Maximo received 110 dollars after an injury at the Transite and Williams plant in Alliance. Mike Wocik of Massillon received 54 dollars for a work injury at the Massillon Paper plant, awarded by the State Industrial Commission.

An eight day campaign to raise fifty thousand dollars will be launched at a Catholic Club meeting in the McKinley hotel. Mrs. W. E. Herron leads the drive to finish the club house clear debts and thus allow needy boys free access to gymnasium classes. The club is non sectarian and invites city wide support.
Joe Gehrik a Romanian saloon operator at 760 Madison was arraigned in police court for opening at 4 AM defying a 5:50 AM to midnight closing rule. Judge Quinn instructed him on the hours and warned foreign saloon keepers to be notified in person. Gehrik promised compliance and was discharged.
Mrs Margaret Arbaugh fifty seven of Jewett Ohio sister of Rev W A Rutledge of Simpson M E church died at home Sunday after a week with inflammatory rheumatism Funeral services will be at her home and at the Jewett M E church Tuesday at 2 pm.
County Prosecutor Pontius filed a suit to oust the NCT from the Canton Massillon highway. Hearing began Monday before A M McCarty, master commissioner, but stalled as counsel sought to delay until witnesses could be produced. Clerk Stoner expected to testify on county journal entries granting the franchise.
Alice Callise, six, fell from a swing Sunday afternoon at the water works park and fractured her right arm. She was taken to Ingleside hospital in Miller Blanchard's ambulance. Her injuries are not serious.
A woman believed to be Mrs Cary Clough leaped from a sleeping car of a Chicago to New York Pullman train at dawn here and wandered the city bareheaded with one shoe. Sheriff and police sought her relatives in Brooklyn while Rev Warren Hawkins aided her at a church and Y W C A before she was jailed.
