In Elizabethton Tennessee on May 14 National guards arrested over 200 picketing workers amid new clashes. Injuries were reported including a girl cut on the hand and a taxi driver struck. Pickets blocked highways as guards used bayonets tear gas and gas masks. Some detainees were held at Carterco courthouse auditorium as tension rose around the American Bemberg and Glanzstoff Rayon plants.
