County commissioners ordered the release of H. A. Simpson from the workhouse on Judge Ake and Prosecutor McClintock's recommendation. Simpson had been sentenced February 17 to pay a $1000 fine plus costs after deputies found a pop bottle of moonshine liquor in his bunk near the Superior Sheet Steel plant. he denied owning the liquor.

Police arrested Louis Vici and James Bell pool room proprietors from Lorain Ohio after a confrontation in Youngstown. They assaulted a pedestrian who warned them about a one way street then tried to flee in a Studebaker bearing Ohio license 725820. Officers stopped the car and found 1923 West Virginia license plates. the car may have been stolen. The pair are held on intoxication resisting arrest and suspicion charges. A companion fired three shots at the car during transport but no one injured.
