Charles Camorra is freed of a theft charge after Lilian Gish’s King Charles spaniel Gynn was found in his home and kept by police when keeper Charles McCullough refused to press the complaint in Yorkville court. The dog had been reported lost.

A violent steam explosion at the Fridlin Laundry Co. plant in Kokomo Indiana killed four women and injured at least 30 others. The blast struck the steam pressing department where the victims were working.

The Senate approved an amendment to the tax reduction bill by 40 to 38, adding a graduated five to 12 percent tax on the first 15 000 of corporate income. The plan, backed by Senator Simmons, would tax the first 5 000 at five percent, the next 5 000 at seven percent, and the third 5 000 at 12 percent, then a flat rate applies. Democrats argued the change would relieve small corporations.
The body of Lieut. Royal V. Thomas who was killed testing a monoplane for a Rome flight was sent to McLough Kansas his hometown aboard a Pennsylvania Railroad train. A Miller Field plane piloted by Lieut. Marion L. Elliott dropped flowers on the departing train at Newark station.
