A three car roller coaster at Springfield Lake park derailed on a sharp turn injuring thirteen people. Seriously hurt were Sarah Bolich of Alliance and several Akron residents, with two Alliance youths among the injured.
Two men and a teen girl were held by New York police in connection with the fall of Barbara King, 20, a Times Square dance hall hostess. King, once of Chicago, was in critical condition after the incident early today.

William Clark assistant sports editor of The Canton Daily News sustained knee and back injuries when his automobile overturned on the Canton Massillon road north of the Lincoln Highway. He was taken home for several days of confinement. his condition is not serious.
Earl B. Miller set a new altitude record at Akron municipal airport leaping from 20 400 feet breaking the former German mark by 3 000 feet. The sealed barograph was sent to the National Aeronautical Association in Washington for calibration as observers noted Miller’s extreme cold and illness upon landing.
Antonio Lopez, 22, is hospitalized at Mercy with a severed jugular vein after a cutting affray at 903 Carnahan Ave NE Sunday night. His wife Flossie Lopez, 615 Carnahan Ave NE, is jailed on a charge of cutting to wound. Police say he attacked her with a knife. she gained the weapon and slashed his throat. His condition is serious.
Yazoo and Mississippi Railroad offers a $10,000 reward for those responsible for yesterday wreck of the Memphis New Orleans passenger express at Harriston Mississippi. Victims are engineer E. W. Maddux of New Orleans and fireman C. W. Baker of Vicksburg.
Crowds from Canton and nearby areas tour Meyers Lake Park exposition hall for the Expo sition of Progress. The weekend program includes speeches, music, outboard boat races with Ohio Outboard Association entrants, Passion Play chorus, and a WHBC broadcast from the stage. Atty A C L Bartheimeh filed mandamus suit in Common Pleas to force County Auditor A A Van Dorsten to honor a voucher. Bartheimeh and Calvin Seeman defended Walter Shaffer, indicted for first degree murder. Shaffer pleaded guilty to second degree murder. Court allowed $600 each, but vouchers were refused. A L Helling and A H Elliott, appointed to defend Harry Reisling on first degree murder, filed a similar suit last week. Judge Charles Krichbaum said no order has been issued yet in either suit.
The warm spell peaked Sunday with the temperature hitting 85 as a cooling breeze tempered the heat. By Sunday night the mercury stood at 64 and rose to 65 before daylight Monday. A record golf crowd formed on local courses amid heavy highway traffic for the era.

Andrew Gluczyk aged 43 of Cleveland was struck by an automobile and killed while crossing a street in Cleveland.

Federal authorities in Cleveland delay the grand jury probe of a Canton liquor ring until about June 1 delaying May 15 start. Indictments may total between 20 and 36 as officers former officials and racketeers are named. A voluminous report is ready for jurors and will take a few days to review before any decision.
