Five children will be picked to represent the county in the four county match Friday evening, May 25, in the city auditorium. The contest is open to the public. Parents and friends are invited.
Kerr assisted by Mansfield directed 24 schools and 24 contestants in a Central Junior High spelling bee. Beginning with the word lose the moderator pronounced words from seventh grade lists then eighth grade as rounds progressed. Eleven were eliminated in round one and eighteen in round two.
Spain May 11. Captains Jimenez and Iglesias failed to take off as their airplane rolled off the runway during a long distance flight attempt. The craft was slightly damaged and the start postponed 24 hours. No injuries. Ha an is their goal.
