Ohio industry shows a strong resurgence with 62 percent higher electrical consumption than a year ago. The state reports factories running full schedules, more workers at work, and output increasing weekly as utility meters reflect renewed business activity.
Elsie Bischell won a $5750 judgment in Judge Aice's court against the estate of W. H. Rickard. She claimed payment for services before Rickard's death, including housework, clerical help, and vegetable preparation for his market.
Senate leaders predicted a great air force as the first line of defense as Congress plans bigger aviation budgets. The navy would gain 9 million more for naval aviation totaling 16.9 million, while the army seeks at least 30 million for aircraft development and research.
County Treasurer Brenner stated that all townships and villages except the city of Canton will receive tax bills and payment channels through the mail. Irma Lizer filed action in common pleas court to compel Clem Rennie to complete a property trade. Lizer claims a residence in Garfield SW exchange for Rennie’s farm in Pike Co but Rennie allegedly backed out after papers were prepared. Attorney Thomas H. Leahy represents Lizer.
Ex service members in the House push investigations into war contract grafters and press leaders to act on Johnson Woodruff resolutions. They seek privileged status for the probes, while President Harding moves cited may hinder passage. The Phillips and Stephens firm and Georgia patronage figure J L Phillips are central to republican tensions.
Attorney James A. Rice spoke on legal aspects of land contracts at the Canton Real Estate Board luncheon held at the Hotel Northern. A discussion followed. The Canton Rotary club will dedicate Friday noon to discuss Ohio efforts for crippled children during Crippled Children week called by Governor Harry L. Davis. The Ohio Society for Crippled Children cites about 15 000 at risk children and notes more than 600 aided so far. Canton nurses with the Visiting Nurse Association assist in locating urgent cases and arranging needed surgery and care.
Canton residents gather for a public testimonial honoring Ralph W. Hoffee and others who aided police in rounding up bandits northeast of the city. The 7 p.m. Saturday event on the Elks club lawn features music by Grand Army and Thayers bands, singing by the Elks Glee Club, speakers Judge Pontius and Father Stuber, and no collection.
The Ralph W. Hoffee Memorial fund reached 3374.73 by noon Thursday with more than 700 dollars added from the previous day. Woodland school pupils and teachers led donors giving 100.36, while city school children deposited 37.32 in pennies into the urn at First Trust and Savings Bank. A council proposal by W. T. Kirk seeks a municipal inspection of all amateur radio installations by the city electrical department to ensure compliance with safety standards. The effort, backed by Ohio Power Co. Ohio Bell and The Cleveland Illuminating Co. aims to reduce risks from aerials near power lines and requires a safety certificate and proper lightning protection for receiving sets.

Canton Ohio Democrats urge James M. Cox to enter the race for governor this fall. A formal letter from Elmer E. Cline and other local leaders asks Cox to be drafted, noting his record as a strong Ohio governor and seeking his indication of attitude. Some Columbus politicians doubt Cox will run, predicting a 1924 presidential bid instead.

Washington May 11 Governor Robert A Cooper of South Carolina is nominated to fill a vacancy on the Farm Loan Board caused by the resignation of former congressman Lever. The nomination was announced by President Harding.

Federal agents and local police identified the dead bandit known as Oklahoma Slim as John Hager Stephens after his brother and sister, plus their mother, recognized him from a photograph. Clarke traced Stephens to Glenwood West Virginia, matching government records with the corpse found after the Canton gun battle. Authorities abandoned the family Bladio theory following positive ID.

NAB fifth suspect Arthur Sturton a Burns detective cleared up the Crafton Ft bank robbery Wednesday night. Andrew Kapler wounded bandit confessed that a Pittsburgh man named Spongey was implicated. Sturton wired Pittsburgh police and arrested Spongey Joyce. Tommy Saxton the other wounded bandit confessed. Kapler Eddie Steavens and John Hager Stephens were identified as the remaining gang members.
Bandits aimed to free Nor man Warden a gun toter from the workhouse. Clothes found at a workhouse delivery suggested a plan, leading police to suspect Warden as John Hager Stephens alias Oklahoma Slim. Warden proved only an alleged safe cracker and bank robber, prompting a long pursuit of Stephens across mid western states.
