Coroner Shorb and Massillon police seek a foreigner who visited photographer William Pennington’s studio last week hoping to obtain a portrait. The photographer, 59, died after being stabbed near his home Monday night. Police have few clues and pursue a foreign suspect seen nearby, with two loiterers as the only other leads.
Mrs Eunice H Clark widower of W W Clark died at her home 707 Tuscarawas St W Canton. Born September 29 1842 in Windham Ohio she lived in Canton seventy four years and was active in church charity and WCTU. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at the home with Rev Alfred Lee Wilson. burial Westlawn.
In Dublin on May 9, peace negotiations between William T. Cosgrave and Eamonn De Valera were broken off by De Valera. The talks had been ongoing via correspondence since De Valera ordered the republican irregulars to cease hostilities with Sir Douglas acting as intermediary.

In St Clairsville per April coroner report twelve violent deaths occurred including five in one day. Two murder charges arose from investigations. Weather bureau warns of a killing frost across Ohio tonight as a cold May wave moves eastward. Temperatures ranged from 29 degrees in Bellefontaine to 34 in Canton and Toledo with snow and sleet reported in many areas. Forecasters expect clearing skies and possibly colder temperatures tonight, with warm sunny conditions returning in a few days.
Dr. R G Leland chief of hygiene for the State Board of Health toured a Navarre area site chosen with the Canton Chamber of Commerce to centralize county buildings. He will file an oral report then a written one to the commissioners within two or three days. The board plans to start a county tuberculosis hospital once approved and prepared for sale of 70 acres from the infirmary south side to fund the project.
President Harding cancels his planned trip to New York for a Salvation Army event honoring General Pallington Booth due to press of public affairs. The White House announced the cancellation citing demands on the president’s schedule.

A petition filed in common pleas court by First United Evangelical church trustees seeks to enjoin Rev. W Elmer Bailey from occupying the pulpit and to cancel his employment contract. Plaintiffs name David B Wilson J A Plack John Creighton Walter I Hauptfner Newton L Domer Arias S Gray and Jacob Schweisberger as trustees. defendants include Bailey and Henry J Fromm David J Taubensee J Edward Bowman and William Staley. The suit follows a split with the United Evangelical church over Bailey declaring himself a member of the Evangelical church and renaming the church Grace Evangelical church, leading to financial and governance disputes. Attorneys James A Bowman and James H Robertson represent the plaintiffs.
