A 35 year old man was severely burned in a gasoline explosion at a house on West Tuskegee Street while cleaning up walls. The tank ignited after he touched a match to it and he was transported to Aultman Hospital for skin grafting, life saving measures.
A planned addition west of the Canton postoffice aims for completion by June 1. Oscar Derot, supervising architect, reports Congress requested a $20,000 remodeling appropriation if the Senate bill passes. Whitacre and other officials push for federal funding to advance the project despite site and scheduling concerns.

Canton city council moved to authorize the sale of a half acre of water works park land near Patterson and Union streets for a project linked to Canton Rubber Co. Park expert F A Pease warned the sale would visually and structurally impair the future park and a proposed roadway system. Harbert directed service work while plans for a park north of Lindenay and south of Lakest proceed, with total parking costs about 50 000 and summer work expected after final council action.

A new legislative bill signed by the governor allows saloons in Massillon and nearby areas disrupted by high water to apply for a tax assessment rebate. An affidavit charged Bradley Floom of massillon with violating the auto ordinance after a Tuesday night collision on the public square that injured Bertha Mattice of 2000 East Eighth Street. School enumerators plan new measures to counter insurance men who mask as enumerators to steal pupil lists. They will wear red and black badges to identify themselves and ensure they can obtain the names of all children without confrontation.
Governor Cox signed the Greenland mothers pension law and an eight hour day for public work. He will depart for Washington late tonight.
Homer Double and several bystanders narrowly escaped serious injury Friday morning when Double’s auto struck a cable stretched across Clevelanday near Second Street. A traction engine used to pull loaded wagons was starting when the car hit the tethered line, catching Bolt, Guest, and Stewart in the rear. Double received a bad facial cut, and misgivings arose over a watchman reportedly stationed in the street.
Miss Achsa Guthrie of Canton wins a breach of promise suit against Rudolph Misere. The jury deliberated a little over an hour and awarded $600 to cover wedding costs while Guthrie notes money cannot heal a broken engagement. Local ads and notices accompany the report.
